Overview
As a future civil engineer, I believe it's essential to understand how modern technologies like IoT and home automation are shaping the buildings of tomorrow.
Objectives
Build robust network infrastructure for smart home
Implement automated lighting systems
Create motion-triggered automation
Integrate outdoor lighting with natural light cycles
Process & Methodology
Replaced legacy telephone cabling with Ethernet wiring to establish a robust Wi-Fi mesh system.
Started with bedroom lighting automation, then expanded to outdoor streetlights responding to sunset/sunrise.
Implemented motion-triggered lighting for staircases and kitchen cabinets for enhanced convenience.
Integrated all systems through Home Assistant for centralized control and automation.
